Pharmacogenomics research, independent IRB review and training
The PharmacoGeNomics Institute for Research and Education (PGNI) is an independent U.S. nonprofit that conducts pharmacogenomics research, provides independent IRB review of human-subjects studies, and trains researchers and clinicians. Pharmacogenomics is the study of how a person's genes affect their response to medicines. PGNI is committed to expanding equitable access to pharmacogenomic knowledge and applications for underserved and underrepresented populations.
Research · Collaboration · IRB & Ethics Oversight · Education
One research mission, four connected parts
Research is the core. Collaboration extends it, ethical oversight makes it responsible, and education builds the people who carry it forward. Equitable access is not a separate initiative at PGNI — it is the standard applied across all four.
Research
The intellectual core. PGNI identifies important pharmacogenomics questions and develops research programs around them.
Collaboration
Investigators, universities, institutions, sponsors, and funders can work with PGNI to extend the research.
IRB & Ethics Oversight
The ethical and regulatory infrastructure for human-subjects research: a chartered IRB providing independent review under the federal Common Rule and applicable FDA regulations, with a Federalwide Assurance (FWA).
Education and Training
Building the next generation of pharmacogenomics researchers and professionals through a research fellowship program, courses, training, and professional development.
Research is the intellectual core of PGNI
PGNI identifies important pharmacogenomics questions and develops research programs around them, organized by theme rather than by individual study.
Work with PGNI on research
PGNI welcomes research collaborations, institutional partnerships, and funded research opportunities with investigators, universities, sponsors, and funders. Research support services are also available.
Independent ethical oversight for human-subjects research
PGNI's chartered IRB provides independent, pharmacogenomics-specialized ethical and regulatory review under the federal Common Rule, with a Federalwide Assurance (FWA). It serves Affiliated Researchers, independent researchers, and outside institutions through reliance agreements.
Develop the knowledge and research skills to advance and implement pharmacogenomics
A research fellowship program, courses, mentored research coursework, and custom training build the next generation of pharmacogenomics researchers, clinicians, and professionals, to implement pharmacogenomics for the benefit of patients.
Equity is the standard, not a program.
Every activity — research, education, or ethics oversight — is expected to expand access for populations underrepresented in pharmacogenomic evidence and care.
